Reiko Sudo: Japanese Textile Expert
The Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW) is delighted to bring Japanese textile artist and 2015 Hancock Fellow, Reiko Sudo to Australia in October.
Reiko Sudo is Artistic Director of the renowned Japanese textile producer NUNO Corporation and has pioneered 'techno-textiles' -a rich intersection between traditional artisan techniques and industrial design processes..
Established in 1984, Nuno, which means fabric in Japanese, combines old practices in weaving and dyeing with new technologies to create textiles that are original, distinctive, and fresh. Launched in 2002, NunoWorks showcases hand-printed textiles (silk-screened, stamped, or stencilled), that are bold and modern. Nuno designs feature in the collections of the world's major museums.
Supported through the Tapestry Foundation Australia, the Hancock Fellowship was established to bring international experts in tapestry, textile and design to the ATW to share their expertise through lectures, workshops and exhibitions.
Workshop: 10 October
Lecture and Exhibition Opening: 12 October, 6pm
