Meet The LFW Australian Designers Abroad

Meet the Australian Fashion Retailers Showcasing at London Fashion Week 2018: Manning Cartell, Pared Eyewear, We are Kindred and the 2016/17 International Woolmark Prize womenswear regional winner for Australia/New Zealand, Harman Grubiša.

Lizzie and Georgie Renkert

Established in 2013 by siblings, best friends, and kindreds, Lizzie and Georgie Renkert, the Australian label is a celebration of feminism. Drawing from over 30 years of collective experience in the fashion industry across magazine editing, design, buying and development, the sisters’ deep respect for one another’s individual aesthetic informs an offering of effortless modern luxury – with a touch of bohemia. In a celebration of harmony and symbiosis, We Are Kindred is feminine, yet modern and our innovative designs are realised through rich fabrications, embellishments and bespoke prints.

“Georgie and I are thrilled to be taking part in the Designers Abroad London programme with the UK Department for International Trade and Australian Fashion Council. Showcasing our label during London Fashion Week is such a privilege and a long-held dream. We believe our feminine, ethereal aesthetic will very much resonate with British women and we’re delighted by the prospects of growing our brand in the UK.” Elizabeth Renkert

Samantha Stevenson and Edward Baker

Pared Eyewear is the creation of founder and Creative Director Samantha Stevenson and her partner Edward Baker. In 2011, Samantha’s design skills, coupled with Edward’s strong background in both fashion and retail industries, led the duo to set about creating a challenger brand in the global eyewear market while based in Sydney, Australia.

Samantha’s creative philosophy focuses on wear-ability while pushing the boundaries of conventional design and still staying true to eyewear fundamentals of high quality materials, smooth shapes and lasting comfort. Pared launched with five unique styles in the summer of 2012. Since then, the brand has released a further five collections, with each range taking inspiration from places and eras evocative of sunny days and endless summers.

Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša

Harman Grubiša is a New Zealand-based, self-titled women’s wear label created by Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša. In their three short yet distinguished years in business, the duo have quickly earned their place as creators of contemporary elegance, with a focus on lush fabrications and feminine tailoring, all enhanced by their yin & yan signature edge.

The Harman Grubiša brand evolved in a rapid 12 months from e-commerce to the opening of their flagship retail store in one of New Zealand’s premier shopping districts, has since become one of the youngest brands to receive the Mercedes-Benz Presents accolade, and continued in this fashion as the first NZ recipient of the Australian Regional International Woolmark Prize in 2017. Harman Grubiša acknowledges its responsibility to sustainable fashion practices, and is devoted to 100% local apparel production.

“Our intention is always to create unique quality pieces that become a part of our women's lives- her wardrobe, not a throw away but a pleasure to wear. To be kept forever”.

For over a decade Manning Cartell has been recognised as one of Australia’s most sought-after womens ready to wear brands. Manning Cartell is known for directional and exclusive prints, innovative fabrics and an effortless sensibility that continues to drive expansion for the brand in Australia and internationally.
