Recognised for her colourful and dynamic design aesthetic, Emma Mulholland competed alongside finalists macgraw and Pageant for the prestigious title. Emma was selected as the winner of the award by a panel of esteemed fashion industry professionals, including Vogue Australia Editor-in-Chief and Australian Fashion Chamber Chairman Edwina McCann; The Australian Fashion Editor Glynis Traill-Nash; Zimmermann Founder/ Creative Director Nicky Zimmermann; Shine By Three Blogger Margaret Zhang; Westpac Private Bank Relationship Director Kellie Robertson; and Speciality Fashion Group and Fitted for Work Director Megan Quinn.
The finalists were part of spectacular fashion parade last night with nine of Australia’s leading designers including Akira, Bianca Spender, Camilla and Marc, Carla Zampatti, Carl Kapp, Ginger and Smart, Lee Mathews, Manning Cartel and Scanlan Theodore.
As the recipient of the award, Emma Mulholland will receive a prize worth over $40,000, including a $10,000 cash grant and one year of financial planning services provided by BT Financial Group; two return flights to Los Angeles courtesy of Virgin Australia; backstage hair services for one major fashion event by TONI&GUY; and two mentoring sessions with two fashion industry icons provided by the Australian Fashion Chamber.
The BT Emerging Designer Award was established in 2013 with the goal of promoting emerging designer talent through support in the form of financial advice and mentoring. Emma Mulholland joins the ranks of previous winners including Michael Lo Sordo (2014) and Christopher Esber (2013).
