STRATEAS.CARLUCCI announced as winners of the 2014/15 Australian Regional Woolmark Prize

STRATEAS.CARLUCCI have taken out the 2014/15 International Woolmark Prize Australia regional final in both the menswear and womenswear categories.  The Melbourne-based design duo were presented the awards by international designer Roland Mouret in Sydney yesterday. Inspired by Indigenous artist Emily Kngwarreye, STRATEAS.CARLUCCI was praised for their exquisite tailoring of woven Merino wool. Supplied by Woolmark licensee Nikke, the woven fabric had a water repellent finish and the complementary detailing between their menswear and womenswear outfits allowed the duo to showcase their brand across the two categories.

STRATEAS.CARLUCCI was chosen from a pool of strong Australian talent including From Britten, Michael Lo Sordo, HAN, Phoenix Keating, Garth Cook, Song for the Mute and Tristan Melle.

The label will now produce both a menswear and womenswear collection for the competition to compete against regional finalists from the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East in early 2015.

The judging panel for the Australian regional final included a number of industry figures including Rolan Mouret, David Jones General Manager for Menswear Deborah Foreman, David Jones General Manager for Womenswear Sophie Clark, AFC Chairman and Vogue Australian Editor-in-Chief Edwina McCann and AFC Deputy Chair and Harper’s BAZAAR Australia Editor-in-Chief Kellie Hush.
