‘Time Lapse’ | Exhibition & Sale
The Charlotte Smith Fashion Collection and the Australian Fashion Council present ‘Time Lapse’ with Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University.
On Thursday July 18, The Charlotte Smith Fashion Collection, the AFC and Billy Blue School of Design at Torrens University will officially launch a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Australian fashion industry.
Hundreds of curated garments from the renowned Charlotte Smith Fashion Collection (formerly called The Darnell Collection) will be sold over two days at the Billy Blue School of Design campus in Sydney and over two days at their Melbourne campus.
These treasures will include garments for conservation and reworking from the Victorian and Edwardian era and the 1920s; wearable vintage from the 1940s through to the 1990s; silk and cotton lingerie from the 19th and 20th c; cotton 50s dresses; wool & alpaca garments; furs; suits; a small selection of menswear and plenty of designer labels - perfect for inspiration, wearing, reselling, reworking, or conserving.
To coincide with this historic garment sale, an intimate, museum-style exhibition titled Time Lapse: Fashion’s Past Creates the Present and Inspires the Future will be on view in an adjoining space at both campuses for public viewing throughout the exhibition days.
The couture garments on display will be drawn from The Charlotte Smith Fashion Collection and will feature designs by Rodarte, Martin Margiela, Thierry Mugler, Mary Katranzou and Vivienne Westwood, among others.
