IP Australia Questionnaire

AFC encourage you to take part in IP Australia’s research questionnaire about design and intellectual property.

IP Australia is the Government agency that administers patents, trade marks, plant breeder’s rights and registered designs, and they are currently reviewing the designs system in Australia.

The aim of this questionnaire is to better understand the design protection needs of Australia’s business community, including exposure to and behaviours related to designs being copied. This is whether or not you have ever sought registered IP protection for your designs – they are interested in hearing the experiences of those who have and those who have not.

By completing this questionnaire, you will provide IP Australia with valuable information about the challenges faced by Australians in bringing new designs to market, such as excessive copying and difficulties enforcing intellectual property.

The information you provide will have an important influence on future policy directions: outcomes of this research will directly inform IP Australia’s recommendations to Government on what changes need to be made to encourage more design investment.

The questionnaire will be available until Friday February 21.

If you have any questions about the research being undertaken, please contact the team at IP Australia by directly emailing MDB-DRP@ipaustralia.gov.au, and you can find more information about their review and other initiatives related to design on their website.
