INDUSTRY UPDATE | Metro Melbourne to Move to Third Step

For the first time since early June, 2020, Melbourne has seen zero new cases and zero deaths for 2 consecutive days. This is huge news for the city and the state as the next stage of lockdown relief was announced on Monday.

Under the Third Step, from 11:59pm on Tuesday 27 October 2020, Melbourne will move from "stay home" to "stay safe", with no more restrictions on the reasons to leave home.

Below are the basics of how this impacts our industry;

The Manufacturing sector - Open with a COVIDSafe Plan.

Retail in our industry, defined as Retail (other) -  Restricted. Open with density quotients and cleaning requirements.

Wholesale Trade & Warehousing - Restricted. Open with density quotients and cleaning requirements.

Topline COVIDSafe principles for business;

  • ensure physical distancing (1.5 metres)

  • wear a face mask

  • practice good hygiene

  • keep good records and act quickly if staff become unwell

  • avoid interactions in close spaces

  • create workforce bubbles

  • Ensure COVIDSafe Plan is in place
