Australian fashion has developed at a distance from the industry’s traditional centres. That distance has encouraged designers to build on their own terms, with a strong sense of independence, resourcefulness and creative identity.

Across the cohort, that independence takes different forms. First Nations-led practices connect design to Country and cultural knowledge. Other brands draw from migration, regional life, craft traditions, material experimentation and the realities of building fashion businesses from Australia. These influences shape the clothes themselves: from material and construction to craft and storytelling.

Australian Fashion Rooms brings these distinct practices together in Paris. The result is a shared Australian point of view expressed through multiple design languages that can travel beyond Australia.

Australian Fashion Rooms is the international showcase platform of AFC Global Gateways, the Australian Fashion Council’s export market development program for Australian fashion.

Launching in Paris during Paris Fashion Week 2026, Australian Fashion Rooms brings together established, evolving and emerging designers to connect with international buyers, media and industry through collection discovery, appointments and in-market engagement.

Global Gateways is designed to strengthen pathways into priority international markets by building visibility, relationships and market knowledge over time. Paris 2026 establishes the first chapter of a platform designed to support continued international engagement for Australian fashion.
