HONG KONG TRADE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (HKTDC)

Established in 1966, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body dedicated to creating global business opportunities through Hong Kong and provides start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with business information, advisory services and promotion opportunities, giving all-round support to their development and expansion. 

HKTDC strive to be the best trade promotion organisation in the world through their various programs, events and resources. HKTDC have a global network with 50 offices in the major business centre around the world including 13 in Mainland China.

Bonnie Shek is the Director for Australia/New Zealand, of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and will be joining us for the session. Bonnie has extensive marketing, business development and management experience in Asia/Pacific. She leads the team to assist SMEs in doing business in Hong Kong/China and further enhance the good trading relationship between Hong Kong and the Australasian region.

Yin Robards | Deputy Head for Australia & New Zealand

INVEST HONG KONG

Invest Hong Kong's vision is to strengthen Hong Kong's status as the leading international business location in Asia. Their mission is to attract and retain foreign direct investment which is of strategic importance to the economic development of Hong Kong.

Invest Hong Kong is the Government of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong’s foreign investment attraction agency. As a government department, their role is to assist companies expand and set up businesses in Hong Kong either to capitalise on the thriving domestic market or as an entrepôt to Asia.

Invest Hong Kong provide a free, comprehensive and confidential service to such companies which can include assisting a company develop its business plan for Hong Kong by providing up-to-date information on relevant industry sectors and business opportunities, regulatory and structural considerations, and latest economic update in Hong Kong. 

Yin Robards is the Deputy Head for Australia and New Zealand for Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, the HKSAR Government Department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong. Yin has assisted many Australian and NZ companies in establishing successful businesses in Hong Kong. Yin’s expertise lie in marketing and business, with experience at HKTDC Sydney, through to the media industry promoting the CNN brand and managing broadcast affiliate relationships at Turner International Asia Pacific Ltd in Hong Kong (a Time Warner company).

INJURY is an Australian mens and womenswear brand founded in 2004 by Eugene Leung in Sydney. He launched the debut AW05 collection in MBFWA in 2005 and has since received recognition from global buyers and media. In recent years, INJURY has shown their collections multiple times at on-schedule Paris Fashion Week, at official New York Fashion Week and at MBFWA in Sydney. The label has been stocked in over 80 of the most exclusive retailers in Australia and Asia, and has earned continuous support from media, press and celebrities both in Australia and overseas.

Since 2018, INJURY has expanded into a multi-displinary creative house to cover music, fashion, design and curation, established its own Music label and has released a limited edition vinyl album named ‘Groundwork’ in April 2019.

We’re thrilled to have both INJURY’s Founder & Creative Director Eugene Leung, and Brand Director Dan Tse join us for the upcoming Export Session!

Dan Tse joined the label in 2008, establishing their womenswear line and expanded the business to a global network, with a strong focus in Asia. The duo have a wealth of combined knowledge and experience from their time spent in both Hong Kong and Sydney, where they are now based.

Dan and Eugene have each been recognised for their business and design savvy by their industry peers, being invited to speak at numerous events including Business of Design Week (BODW) 2015, and appearing on Fashion Design judging panels for industry awards.

Their ongoing work as creative consultants has also seen them curate various industry projects and campaigns, engaging audiences with design in new and innovative ways.
