Fairtrade certifies cotton and supply chain operators, providing third party auditing and an assurance that there is no child labour or forced labour in cotton supply chains and that workers rights are protected under ILO conventions. Fairtrade also provides physical and documentary traceability from cotton producer all the way through to the retail brand, making it one of the most robust systems in the fashion industry. Furthermore, Fairtrade farmers received a premium for their cotton which they can invest in their communities.
