Founded in 2013, designer and CEO of Avila, Ashleigh Bingham, draws on inspiration from nature and its landscapes as well as her personal sense of social and environmental responsibility to design Avila clothes. Underpinning the labels designs and processes are our four key values: ethically sourced, sustainably considered, quality in construction and comfort in design. Together, Avila's clothing enable and empower women to feel positive and inspired.

Barbara Rogers is a textile designer, based in Sydney, with over 20 years experience in textile design and fashion. She has developed unique contemporary methods from Japanese shibori techniques. She has particular interest in selective bleaching and dyeing, in building up layers of both colour and design.

Every Blue & Grae piece is constructed by hand from the finest materials in Brisbane, Australia. Our designs are timeless, blending utilitarianism with a minimal, classic aesthetic. We adapt traditional methods and are always led by longevity. Our products are made to order or in small batches which results in a superior execution and a unique piece built especially for you. We hope that through our own responsible production and retailing we inspire more people to buy less, but to buy more wisely.

Sorronda Never Surrender

We create accessories and clothing by just using industry's waste. Our collections depends on what "waste" we find. We don't source anything new and we source everything locally. We use fabrics and garments that are at least 80% natural, so we don't contribute to micro-plastic pollution in our oceans.

The materials we use MUST be from one of the following categories:

OFFCUTS OR PRODUCTION WASTE: textile scraps generated during garment manufacturing. It is considered waste and is discarded due to its uneven and small formats; Used for Hair Accessories & Face Masks.
END OF ROLLS (REMNANTS): are factory surplus textiles that have been left over from garment manufacturing; Used for Hair Accessories & Face Masks.
DAMAGED TEXTILES: are unused textiles that have been damaged for example with colour or print defects, rendering them unusable; Used for Accessories and Clothing.
DEADSTOCK FABRICS: are textiles that factories or designers deem as no longer needed after producing a collection and might be destined to landfill; Used for Accessories and Clothing.
UNSOLD CLOTHING WASTE: refer to the inventory that doesn't sell and doesn't have a high likelihood of selling in the future and might be destined to landfill. We recycle this waste on behalf of fashion brands, like Lois Hazel and Nique.

MANUFACTURING

We produce small, capsule collections, using local seamstresses that are free to work from home and are granted a fair pay and treatment. We mainly make to order without delay for the customer. If a style doesn't sell well we don't produce it so we can re-use the fabric for other products/collections.

We are committed to designing and producing luxurious and ethical wedding gowns that women feel confident and comfortable in, whilst keeping them at an accessible price point.

Our original intention to design and manufacture women's clothing that had a more realistic appreciation of varying body shapes and sizes led us down the path of a focus on fit using a combination of design and technology that minimises overproduction. In this way, landfill and carbon footprint is minimised.

With over 35 years experience our garments are made in Australia, beautifully finished with bespoke components, have an excellent cut and are carefully shaped to fit many different body types. Our clothes are comfortable to wear in all seasons because we use fabrics that breath, are practical, durable and easy care. Most of our garments are machine washable because we make sure that the fabrics are pre-washed and pre-shrunk before manufacture and even our buttons are sewn on by hand. Quality made to last. Our brand concentrates on SLOW, not fast, fashion.
